The fashion week has been called Maybelline India Fashion Week ever since I started attending it ( See what I wore to my first fashion week here) but this time around it is Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week SS19 aka LMIFW. Though there were some major changes in the sponsorship, everything else was pretty much the same!
This time around I could not attend the whole week due to work commitments but if you are someone who has wondered what fashion week is all about, you need to come to fashion week with me.
I was super excited for Day 1 especially because of the Pero show, the shows that Pero does are always an experience, this time around the collection was called “Finding pero” and it was inspired by underwater landscape, the headgear that the models wore was inspired by the corals and fishes and the garment silhouettes flowed just like the water does in the ocean. Pictures really can’t do justice to the show because the live band was mesmerizing ( check out the video here)
The embroidered motifs and the colors used for the embroidery were also inspired by the underwater flora and fauna.
Finally talking about what I wore to fashion week, let me start by telling you that my idea behind this look was the same as every other look I have ever put together for fashion week, expensive clothes do not equal to an amazing personal style.
I am pretty obsessed with the scarf print at the moment, it looks so opulent and fancy. Also I generally tend to lean towards maximalism because that is how extra I am in life, but to be honest, the complexity and process of adding accessories and layers to an outfit is just so therapeutic for me. I was pretty inspired by Versace and Gucci while putting together this outfit as you probably can see.
I started with a scarf print shirt that I got tailored from the scarfs that I bought and I layered the shirt with a beautiful backless scarf dress (with black velvet ribbon tie-ups at the back) that was a gor-jee-yus find from Sarojini Nagar. I literally hit jackpot with this one!
Since I DO NOT believe in “the same colored accessories rule”, my accessories do not have a single colour in common except for the earrings ofcourse (both are gold). I wore mismatched earrings and I totally love them, they make such a fashion statement. I added my favourite Sabyasachi belt to cinch in the waist and so that the satin silk fabric of the dress doesn’t flow out of control.
I wanted to go all out with accessories as well therefor I went for a snake skin print bag instead of a basic bag and this clash of prints definitely gives me life. Ended up keeping the footwear pretty classic with my mother’s vintage heels.
I did an orange eyeshadow and orange lip to go with the look with faux freckles but it’s a shame that I did not end up taking any picture of my makeup.
