Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallic
Review + Swatches
For Brown girls

Maybelline recently launched their Matte Metallic collection for its Color Sensational range. Maybelline Matte Metallic range has 11 shades, ranging from reds, browns, gold, silver to shades like green and dark blue. The lipstick reminds of the shimmery lipsticks of the nineties. Lipstick contains shimmer particles which gives it a metallic sheen. It comes in a rectangular plastic tube. Check out the video here.

Price : INR 450 for 3.9 gm

Pros :

  • wide range of colors
  • non-drying formula
  • non chunky shimmer
  • smooth to apply
  • light weight on lips
  • non-sticky

Cons :

  • it has more of a creamy/glossy finish
  • extremely transferable
  • most of the shades are not suitable for Indian skin tones
  • low pigmentation ( takes 3-5 coats to give a uniform pigmentation, depending on the shade for the lipstick)
  • patchy after application
  • re-application is needed every 3-4 hours

1. FIRE QUARTZ

Fire Quartz is a peachy pink shade, it took me 3-4 coats to achieve this pigment. It is one of the few shades that was suitable for my skin tone.

2. SPIRAL GALAXY

Spiral Galaxy looks like a peachy metallic nude on my skin tone. This is one of the shades that can be worn everyday.

3. COPPER SPARK

Copper Spark is a beautiful copper brown shade. If you are someone with dusky skin tone, this color would suit you.

4. GUNMETAL

Gunmetal is blueish metallic shade, it is one of the few shades that has the highest pigmentation, this color was achieved with a single swipe. This is not a shade that could be worn daily, but definitely can be worn for Halloween or fashion week.

5. SERPENTINE

Serpentine is a metallic green shade, it has good pigmentation as compared to other matte metallic shades.

6. MOLTEN BRONZE

Molten Brown is a dark brown shade with bronze shimmer, it is suitable for dusky skin tones. It looks glossy or creamy when applied.

7. HOT LAVA

Hot Lava is a red shade with orange undertones. It is the only red shade out of the 11 shades launched in the matte metallic range. It would suit most of the skin tones and could be worn on a daily basis and special occasions as well.

8. SILK STONE

Silk stone is a brownish silver shade, this shade did not suit my skin tone. It has a very low pigmentation, in this picture I have applied 3-4 coats of the lipstick to achieve this colour.

9. PURE GOLD

Pure Gold is a golden shade with yellow undertones, it is definitely an unusual shade different shade but not something that I would wear. Though this would make an amazing highlighter, the glow is to die for.

10. WHITE GOLD

White Gold is a shade with cold undertones. This literally looked like white glossy paint on my lips. It is one of those shades from the collection that I am not a fan of, at all.

11. COPPER ROSE

Copper Rose has to be my favourite shade out of all the 11 shades. It is a deep plum metallic shade and works great for my skin tone. It takes 2-3 swipes to give a uniform pigmentation.

The shades that I would buy again : Copper Rose, Hot Lava and Fire Qaurtz
